The job holder (JH) is responsible for providing engineering support and capability to the Electrical Services Group.
To enable successful delivery of operation, maintenance, and enhancement of the Culham site power supply infrastructure and low voltage control systems, ensuring compliance with current legislation and codes of practice.
To lead small to medium plant related work packages associated with complex HV/LV electrical equipment, minor installation/modification tasks, technical studies including preparation of documentation.
To perform fault-finding activities on the electrical plant and ensure that proposed solutions are technically robust.
The job holder shall be expected to be at a competency needed to supervise work on electrical systems.
Accountabilities:
* Lead specific work undertaken by the Electrical Services Group and all associated documentation. Ensure it follows current legislation and codes of practice and delivered safely and effectively.
* Take full ownership of relevant work packages ensuring all technical criteria are satisfied and that work can be carried out in a safe and cost-effective manner.
* Take responsibility for design, specification, procurement, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of assigned electrical systems.
* Preparation of engineering procedures, risk assessments, method statements and local rules in support of the Electrical Services Group's requirements.
* Interpret supplier requirements and submit related documentation for review and approval, considering costs are controlled within Group budgetary constraints.
* Provide assurance by calculation, analysis and review of existing electrical switchgear and cabling.
* Act as Owner and be responsible for items of plant/equipment at the individual item or sub-system level.
* Responsible for the planning of the maintenance plan and agreeing the schedule with appropriate
operations and seamlessly integrate maintenance plans and schedules into the CMMS, leveraging
the system to optimize workflow management and resource allocation.
* Provide guidance and support to team members on CMMS utilization and maintenance planning
processes, fostering skill development and proficiency.
* Integrate planned maintenance activities with reactive or corrective maintenance arising from
breakdowns or faults, ensuring effective resolution of issues.
* Provide advice on the electrical design of equipment to ensure compliance with legislation and codes
of practice, consulting with a Subject Matter Expert (SAP(E)) as needed.

Specific Qualifications/Experience:
Qualified electrician with an electrical craft apprenticeship or an HNC in an electrical discipline
BS7671 18th Edition pass
City & Guilds 2395 or equivalent (Testing & Inspection)
Significant work experience as an electrician in an industrial/commercial environment
Supervisory and leadership experience
Ability to work safely in accordance with a written safe system of work
Ability to solve problems
Ability to prioritise and balance the workload

Description
- Working across site for Containment Engineering, the role-holder is responsible for fitting a range of equipment.
- Take a lead role in installation of HVAC associated equipment, core drilling activities, pipework installations and all other work carried out by the group based on UKAEA approved drawings or sketches provided by the project teams and Installation team.
- Simple machining with hand-tools or machines from work-shop.
- Experience with Core Drilling equipment
- Act a liaison for activities of riggers, scaffolder, contractors or teams external to the team.
- Supervise junior fitters or those not knowledgeable about the area work practices.
- Strictly follows the UKAEA Written Safe System of Work rules and practices.
Equivalent to an HNC in Mechanical Engineering
Excellent knowledge of the EBW project and installation needs, and of the MAST area.
Excellent knowledge of UKAEA Work practices.
Proven ability to work within a large installation team dealing with complex mechanical assemblies in a large experiment environment involving electricity (LV and HV), RF and microwaves, radiations, Vacuum, pressurised water systems, pressurised gas systems, etc.
Good communication skill, ability of efficiently interact with the EBW Team and external teams.

About the Opportunity:
Rullion is working with a prestigious Rolling Stock and Light Rail client to recruit 2 Technicians for contract positions at their Nottingham Tram Depot. This is a fantastic opportunity for skilled professionals with an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering to contribute to the reliability and maintenance of a modern light rail fleet.
Pay Rates (Inside IR35):
- PAYE: £25.14/hour + accrued holiday
- Umbrella:
- £32.14/hour (first 12 weeks)
- £33.71/hour (after 12 weeks)
Role Overview:
As a member of the depot's autonomous maintenance team, you will provide electrical expertise to support our client's maintenance and service commitments for their tram fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out servicing, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on tram stock and associated equipment
- Collaborate with the Production Manager and adhere to depot safety procedures
- Follow health & safety regulations including H&S.A.W. and C.O.S.H.H.
- Maintain compliance with quality systems
- Support team tasks to meet deadlines and quality specifications
- Conduct routine exams and primary fault-finding (within competence level)
- Perform component exchanges and manage stores provisioning
Requirements:
- Time-served apprenticeship or Level 3 equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering (City & Guilds, SVQ, NVQ)

The ideal candidate will have strong electrical control knowledge, experience with PCB and final function testing, and a basic understanding of mechanical systems.
