Plymouth City Council is currently seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker (QSW) to join their Adult Social Care team on a locum basis.
This is a statutory role with the primary responsibility of conducting holistic assessments for adults, providing expert information and advice on social care matters, and fulfilling a wide range of duties as outlined by current social care legislation and statutory guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake person-centred assessments in line with the Care Act 2014
Provide advice and guidance to service users and carers
Deliver safeguarding interventions where necessary
Work collaboratively with health and voluntary sector professionals
Maintain accurate and timely case records
Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker with current SWE registration
Experience in adult statutory social work
Strong understanding of relevant legislation and best practice
Excellent assessment, communication and organisational skills

Social Worker required to join a busy Children's Locality Team across the picturesque county of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham . Long term contacts are offered with good rates of pay up to £43ph in well supported teams. Flexible hybrid working. Accommodation allowance £150per week is offered for this role if you stay away from home.
We are looking for an experienced Social Worker to work in our Locality Team in Cheltenham , where they will hold a caseload of children and provide an effective, evidence-based intervention with consideration of timeliness and impact. The caseload for this team will be a mix of CIN, CP & CIC which includes some court work with a caseload of around 18.
We are committed to ensuring we have a flexible workforce who can manage their work and home life and to do this, we would consider some home working where the role allows, together with flexible working where it meets the needs of the team as well as the children and families. The candidate will be provided with a laptop and smart phone to assist with this and the expectation is that the worker will be in the office 3 days per week.
You will be SWE registered, ideally a driver with access to own car and able to reside and work in the UK

As the successful candidate, you will have experience working as a Plasterer
Day to day duties:
* Full wall plastering and partition wall work on social housing properties
* Replastering after walls have been chased
* Skimming and damp proofing in tenanted and void properties
* Complying with all Health and Safety procedures on site
* Ability to carry out tiling (a couple of rows around baths and splashbacks)
* NVQ Level 2 in Plastering or equivalent * Full UK Driving Licence * Own Transport
* Undertake the processing of a wide range of planning applications, particularly large scale proposals and all related applications and notifications, along with applications relating to specialist policy areas
* Prepare reports for committee on non-delegated applications and reports for the Head of Planning on delegated applications
* Exercise the delegated power to determine designated categories of applications and other specified delegated functions, as specified by the Chief Planning Officer / Director of Community Services
* Provide statutory and non-statutory pre-planning advice through a fee paying advice service, by assessing development proposals against the relevant planning policies and any other material considerations
* Advise and assist case officers in the department to develop knowledge and share expertise
* A Degree or Professional Qualification in Planning and or Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute * Substantial experience in development management with advance knowledge across a number of specialist areas * Demonstrable experience in dealing with a wide range of planning applications * Experience working within a Local Authority or wider Public Sector Organisation
* Conduct Case Preparation and case management of allocated cases for Court purposes and liaise with the relevant Clients from various departments within the Local Authority
* Prepare briefs for Counsel, liaise with them on matters due for Court, attend Court on behalf of Local Authority
* Reviewing work to ensure work is completed to a high standard
The ideal candidate will have at experience in handling Prosecutions matters and can demonstrate prior experience working on behalf of Local Authorities.
* To support all matters relating to health & safety legislation, corporate policy and procedures to ensure that the organisation meets its statutory health and safety duties
* You will be responsible for providing on the ground advice to services, enabling operational staff to meet their compliance obligations
* To support Service Leads with the identification of operational risks without taking away accountability for compliance from the operation of the service
Main responsibilities:
* Work with Council employees and other stakeholders to influence the development of a positive health and safety culture
* Undertake inspection, audits, investigations and monitoring to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, corporate policy and procedures
* To develop and deliver training in support of the corporate H&S training programme using a variety of methods - e.g. tool box talks, workshops etc.
* Monitor compliance with health and safety management systems. For example, risk assessments in COSHH, PPE, PUWER, accident and incident monitoring and report on non-compliance to effect change.
* Promote, train and coach customers in use of the Corporate Health and Safety Management compliance system (AssessNET) for Workplace safety inspection, Risk assessment, COSHH (risk) assessment, DSE (risk) assessment, Accident and Incident reporting, Safe systems of work, Safe working practices and Permits to work
* BSc / diploma in Environmental Health & EHORB Registration and/or relevant level 6 H&S qualification (e.g. NEBOSH National diploma) and experience * Practical knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and best practice in the management of Health and Safety work
* Design and develop Power BI dashboards for strategic and operational use
* Predict demand, identify risks and trends, and support services with evidence-based decision making
* Lead data-related workstreams across key housing projects and programmes
* Collaborate with internal and external partners including Housing Needs, NHS, voluntary sector, and central government
* Support statutory reporting and performance returns for government and regulatory bodies
* Proven track record in housing data analysis, business intelligence, and performance reporting * Proficiency in T-SQL, Power BI, and Excel; experience building automated reports and dashboards * Experience working in or alongside public sector housing teams, with understanding of landlord compliance and consumer standards
