Electrical Building Services Design Engineer

Our client is seeking an Electrical Building Services Design Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will contribute to projects predominantly in the South East, supporting design work from concept and feasibility through to commissioning and handover.

Qualifications and Experience

British citizenship or valid UK working rights

Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering

Experience in electrical building services design, ideally within the UK

Strong design skills

Preferred but not essential experience:

  • Knowledge of wiring regulations (BS 7671)
  • Familiarity with relevant British Standards
  • Experience in education, leisure, residential, and mixed-use sectors
  • Understanding of BREEAM and its implications for M&E design
  • Experience with Revit MEP

  • Local residency near St Albans or willingness to relocate
  • Access to own transport and a valid drivers licence
  • Permanent position


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct lighting and cable calculations
  • Ensure Part L compliance checking
  • Develop detailed designs, including equipment selection and specification
  • Design and specify renewable technologies
  • Liaise with utility companies for new or diverted services
  • Collaborate with architects, clients, structural engineers, and contractors
  • Manage projects and conduct site inspections
