Vets for Pets
Veterinary & Animal Care
To £70000 GBP Salaried

Support your journey: Development Opportunities. Salary up to £70,000. Experienced clinical team

We have an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to come and join our friendly team at Bolton Central Vets for Pets.

We are a genuinely friendly, inclusive, and supportive bunch who take pride in maintaining a warm, professional atmosphere. While established, the practice offers plenty of scope for someone to shape current practices, streamline workflows and drive clinical excellence, leading to improved patient outcomes.

Collectively, our clinical team brings over 40 years of veterinary experience to the table, with a wide range of skills across medicine, surgery, diagnostics and patient care. Our nursing team adds a further 30+ years of combined experience, ensuring excellent standards of inpatient care, anaesthesia, and client support. Our experienced front-of-house team ties it all together — they're welcoming, efficient, and know many of our clients and their pets personally. It’s a knowledgeable, reliable, and close-knit group that thrives on teamwork.

Whether it's a clinical challenge or a lunchtime laugh, there's always someone to lean on. We celebrate each other’s successes, back each other in tough moments, and welcome new ideas with open minds.

At Bolton Central Vets for Pets we handle a wide variety of cases — from routine consults and surgeries to more complex medical work-ups, orthopaedics, and soft tissue procedures. With advanced imaging including ultrasound and digital x-ray, there’s plenty of opportunity to get involved in interesting and rewarding cases every day. Having already expanded into orthopaedics, we’re keen to support team members with interests in advanced diagnostics, surgery, or imaging. If you’ve got a clinical passion, we’ll back you to develop it!

Our welcoming, professional practice is busy and fast paced with a dynamic caseload and a real buzz throughout the day. There’s always something happening — from surgeries and consults to more complex cases — making it an exciting place to grow your skills. We’re big believers in ongoing development — both clinically and personally. Members of our team have undertaken CPD in areas such as feline medicine, orthopaedics, leadership and mentoring, and client communication. We also have trained mental health first aiders in the practice, helping us maintain a supportive and compassionate environment.

Our practice is in a great location, based on a busy and well-connected retail park. There’s a great selection of shops and places to grab food nearby, including Sainsbury’s, Costa, Greggs, Boots, and more. We’re just a short 5 minute drive away from Bolton town centre and around 25 minutes to Manchester city centre by train or car, making it easy to enjoy both local charm and big city buzz. Great transport links mean commuting and after-work plans are a breeze whether you’re looking to explore Bolton’s gardens, parks and museums or venture into Manchester – we have it all!

With a competitive salary of up to £70,000 on offer, we’re ideally looking for someone to work full time (40 hours per week) with no OOHs and Saturdays are currently on a 1:4 rota basis. Your wellbeing matters to us, and we are open to part-time or flexible working for the right candidate. Whether you’re looking to adjust your hours for childcare, further study, or simply better balance — we’re happy to chat and make it work.

If you enjoy variety, teamwork, and getting stuck in, you’ll thrive here at Bolton Central Vets for Pets.

Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
