An exciting opportunity for an Ecologist to work on a high-profile tidal dam project working with protected species including water vole, reptiles, bats and badgers, as well as supporting other projects as required.  In this role, you will provide specialist onsite ecological services across Kier divisions.

Location: Somerset, Gloucester or Exeter – site based 5 days per week

Contract: Permanent Fulltime with some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

Salary: £28,000 - £38,000 per year + £5.9k annual car allowance + private healthcare benefits

What will you be responsible for?

As an Ecologist, you will act as a focal point for technical advice, lead on the development of surveys, mitigation and licences, as well as promoting nature-based solutions and innovation across the business.

Your day to day will include:

  • Support the delivery of ecological services on the Bridgewater tidal dam project, as well as other projects across a range of sectors including road, rail, water and property as required
  • Support the ecology lead providing a point of contact for ecological matters onsite
  • Oversee construction risks associated with ecology
  • Provide onsite support to licenced ecologists as required
  • Supervise contractors to ensure compliance with CEMP, assents, licences and agreed methodologies

What are we looking for?

This role of Ecologist is great if you have:

  • Ecology degree or equivalent experience
  • CIEEM member or equivalent
  • Previous experience undertaking ecological clerk of works role
  • Good understanding of UK nature conservation legislation and policy
  • Full UK driving licence
