Mitie is seeking a dedicated and reliable Waste/Bin Collection Operative to join our team at Manchester Airport. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and ensuring proper waste segregation at both landside and airside areas of the airport. This role requires a keen eye for detail, the ability to work independently, and a strong commitment to maintaining hygiene standards. Additionally, the operative will manage FOD bins, oil bins, and act as an ambassador for Mitie and Manchester Airport.

Key Responsibilities
Change out all bins in both landside and airside areas of Manchester Airport

Segregate waste materials in designated service yards according to recycling and disposal protocols

Ensure that all waste collection, segregation, and disposal activities comply with environmental and safety regulations

Manage and maintain Foreign Object Debris (FOD) bins and oil bins to ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials

Monitor and report any issues related to waste management, bin collection, and hazardous waste to the supervisor

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in all assigned areas

Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient waste management operations

Represent Mitie and Manchester Airport positively by providing excellent service and maintaining professional conduct at all times

Requirements

Full UK Driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points and must have been held for more than a year
Ability to obtain and maintain an airport ID, which includes passing necessary background checks and security clearances
Physically fit and able to perform repetitive tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy bins
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
Flexibility to work across different shifts, including early mornings, afternoons, and nights.

In order to be successful in this role you will need have the ability to communicate and read basic English, previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential and have a flexible approach to the role. You will need to be open, honest, self-driven and determined. You'll need to be reliable and hardworking with a professional attitude.
