Position: Senior Site Engineer
Location: Edinburgh, Scotland (with regional travel)
Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £42,000 - £52,000 DOE + benefits

Overview:

We are working in partnership with a well-established civil engineering contractor to identify a talented and experienced Senior Site Engineer for upcoming water infrastructure projects in the Edinburgh and Borders region.

The successful candidate will join a high-performing project delivery team working on behalf of Scottish Water, contributing to the successful execution of major infrastructure works.

This is a strategic role offering stability, progression, and the opportunity to work on technically interesting and essential infrastructure projects in Scotland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage on-site engineering activities across multiple live projects within the water sector.

  • Perform site setting-out, surveying, and ensure technical accuracy in line with project specifications and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with the Site Agent and Project Manager on planning, progress tracking, and resource coordination.

  • Drive health & safety excellence, ensuring compliance with all site procedures and legal regulations.

  • Support quality assurance processes, including inspections, testing, and accurate record-keeping.

  • Work closely with subcontractors, client representatives, and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement.

  • Support commercial and contract management through record-keeping and progress reporting.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a site engineering role within civil engineering, ideally water or utilities sector..

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent.

  • SMSTS or SSSTS, and current CSCS card.

  • Proficient in setting out and surveying using modern instrumentation (e.g. GPS, Total Station).

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across sites in the region.
