Veterinary Surgeon – only 1 in 5 Saturdays – Family friendly, stable team

We’re looking for a talented and personable Veterinary Surgeon to join our fantastic team at Yate Vets for Pets on a full time basis.

About us
The practice is run locally by Kate and Keith who in turn are supported by a team totalling 6 vets including a certificate holder in emergency medicine, a certificate holder in surgery and then Kate who also has a certificate in imaging and an advanced certificate in ultrasound, 6 RVNs, 1 SVNs, 2 VCAs, 5 Receptionists and a practice manager.

We are a family friendly, supportive and stable team and over the years we've taken on several graduates who are all still with us today, some 6 years on! 3 members of the team are also GDP advisors and would happily take on a recent grad who still requires some support.

Our strong nursing team are hands on with their support and skills including schedule 3 work, nurse consults, dentals and x-rays.

The practice also benefits from wider support across Vets for Pets, in addition to 2 onsite, trained Mental Health First Aiders, enabling the whole team to personalise the care on offer and ensuring that each member of the team has everything they need to provide the best level of care to the patients and clients in our community.

The role and you
Kate and Keith take real pride in their team and the supportive working environment they have created together and will support you in your new role, offering a bespoke induction and a workplace that respects your need for work life balance.

All vets have dedicated breaks blocked out as well as at least an hour of admin time every day. We also have daily rounds in the afternoon where we discuss what has happened that day and can also discuss any cases that vets would like some help with.

We’re looking for a good all-rounder capable in consults and routine surgery, with consults given 15 minutes as standard and 30 minutes for more complex cases when required.

This is a full-time role with minimal sole charge, working a 4-day week and with just 1 in 5 Saturdays, 8:30am-5:00pm Saturday

The benefits
In addition to a rewarding role with a really great team, we are also offering:

  • Competitive salary between £40,000-£60,000, dependent on experience
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Paid holiday of 28 days, rising to 33 days after 2 years of service
  • CPD allowance
  • Support for certificates such as time to study, or designate cases of interest/relevance to certificate
  • Paid Professional memberships
  • No OOH
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Colleague reward hub – exclusive offers and discounts online and on the high street, including 20% off at Pets at Home, Vets4Pets and the Groom Room

And there’s more!
The practice itself is designed for more rewarding work. It’s equipped to a very high standard and includes 3 consult rooms as well as space for our colleagues to spend time together and is based on a busy retail park offering an array of popular eateries right on our doorstep including Costa, M&S and Nandos which we all enjoy together frequently!
