Assistant Hygiene Manager

Job Purpose:
To support the Site Hygiene Manager in leading and coordinating hygiene operations across all areas of a seafood production facility. The Assistant Hygiene Manager ensures cleaning standards meet food safety, customer, and company requirements while promoting a safe and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the day-to-day management of the hygiene team, ensuring all cleaning tasks are completed to standard and on time.
* Ensure compliance with site hygiene schedules, Cleaning Instruction Cards (CICs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Support the delivery of hygiene training for operatives, including CIC sign-offs and refresher training.
* Monitor hygiene standards across high-risk and low-risk areas and assist with internal audits and corrective actions.
* Maintain accurate hygiene documentation and assist with audit preparation for customers and regulatory bodies (e.g. BRC, M&S).
* Work closely with production, technical, and health & safety teams to ensure cross-functional alignment and hygiene best practices.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement and high hygiene standards throughout the site.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Previous experience within food manufacturing setting is essential. Hygiene supervisory or leadership experience would be an advantage
* Good understanding of food safety standards, COSHH, and chemical handling.
* Ability to lead, motivate, and develop hygiene operatives and team leaders.
* Strong organisational and communication skills.
* Flexible, proactive, and hands-on approach
