Ref: vets4pets-46784
Vets for Pets
Veterinary & Animal Care
To £65000 GBP Salaried

Location, location, location! A thriving practice in picturesque Portishead. Salary up to 65k depending on experience.

We have an unmissable opportunity for an experienced veterinary surgeon to join our growing team in Portishead Vets4Pets.

Who we are
We’re a small, strong team of 4 vets, 3 nurses, 6 receptionists and insurance team. We’re led by Practice Owner Nikolay Radev, and head Vet Mike Maguire. Nik graduated in 2006 at Trakia University in Bulgaria. Nikolay gained experience working in Finland and Minnesota before coming to the UK and working with small animals in 2009, prior to becoming the owner of Portishead Vets for Pets, building a fantastic reputation within the local community. Mike graduated in 2010 from the University of Bristol, has post graduate certificates in both ECC and Diagnostic Imaging, and has worked in multiple referral hospitals in the South West and Wiltshire.

The practice is purpose built to industry leading standards and you’ll get use of all the equipment you’d expect from a first-class GP practice including a brand new Ultrasound machine including a microconvex, phased array and linear probes, standard lab equipment plus in house clotting profiles, and further investment coming including a surgical ventilator, new syringe drivers and in house blood gas analyser. We see a good variety of medical and surgical cases, solely small animal predominantly dogs and cats with some exotics also in the mix. Our clients are extremely loyal, love continuity, insured and want what is best for their pet.

You and the role
This is a full or part time role working between 20-40 hours per week, but we do offer no weekends and no OOH ensuring an excellent work/life balance!

We’re looking for a proactive Veterinary Surgeon with solid medical and surgical skills and ideally with a minimum of 2 years’ experience. You’ll also be a strong team player who has great communication skills and can bond with both colleagues and clients alike.

No two days are the same at our practice so you’ll enjoy the variety the role will bring.

What we offer
In addition to a rewarding role in a superb location, you can also expect to receive:

  • Competitive Salary up to 60k depending on experience
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Paid holiday of 28 days, rising to 33 days after 2 years of service
  • Life assurance 4 x annual salary
  • Paid professional memberships
  • Dedicated CPD allowance and time off
  • Support for certificates such as time to study, or designate cases of interest/relevance to certificate
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Colleague reward hub – exclusive offers and discounts online and on the high street, including 20% off at Pets at Home, Vets4Pets and the Groom Room

We are ideally located on the busy Wyndham Retail Park in Portishead, just minutes away from Junction 19 on the M5 with Bristol and its airport just a short drive away. If you like to spend your free time outdoors, Portishead is a pretty, coastal town, with plenty of walks and its own beach with nearby lighthouse!
