Environmental Protection Team Lead
Ref: c5e909f668dc475a8c6655952e37c059The client is looking for someone who can lead from the front, handling team leadership, officer development, and their own investigations. You'll manage service delivery across:
* Pollution Control (LAPPC, PPC)
* Air Quality and Contaminated Land
* Statutory Nuisance Investigations
* Private Water Supplies and Smoke Control
* Planning & Licensing consultations
You'll help shape service strategy, resolve high-profile or complex issues, and play a key part in staff training, coaching, and mentoring., * Lead the Environmental Protection team operationally and strategically
* Oversee performance, work allocation, training and appraisals
* Personally handle complex or contentious cases
* Maintain and develop operational standards, compliance and SOPs
* Support the Environmental Health Business Manager in budget management and strategic planning
* Represent the service internally and externally, including complaints and appeal responses
* Support emergency response and out-of-hours services (as required)
* Proven experience in environmental protection, with a strong working knowledge of environmental health legislation * Leadership or supervisory experience within local authority or similar setting * Hands-on technical expertise - able to carry and manage your own caseload * Excellent mentoring, coaching, and team development skills * Confident communicator, able to liaise at all levels internally and externally * Member of CIEH or equivalent professional body is desirable
