What You'll Do
* Manage a diverse caseload of planning and highways matters from initial advice through to completion
* Draft and negotiate Section 106 agreements and planning obligations
* Attend Planning Committee meetings on a rota basis to provide expert legal advice to elected members
* Advise on complex development proposals, including major regeneration schemes
* Handle planning appeals, enforcement matters, and judicial review challenges
* Work on highways agreements, adoption processes, and transport infrastructure projects
* Collaborate with planning officers, developers, and external stakeholders on major projects
* Support the delivery of the Council's growth agenda through robust legal frameworks

* Qualified Solicitor with current practicing certificate, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEx * Strong planning law experience with knowledge of development processes * Experience with Section 106 agreements and planning obligations * Understanding of highways law and infrastructure delivery * Confident communication skills for committee presentations and stakeholder engagement * Ability to manage complex, multi-party negotiations * Interest in urban development and regeneration projects * Commercial awareness and understanding of development economics
