Desktop Engineer
Ref: 3a84c3ba2f694c4d9a3073a6e6df9ea7As a Hands-On Desktop Support Technician you will play a vital role in building repairing and supporting end-user devices across a public sector organisation. This role is focused on physical hardware work including unboxing assembling upgrading and repairing PCs and laptops. Once devices are built and tested you will also handle second line desktop support tasks troubleshooting technical issues and assisting with deployments and system rollouts., * Carry out hands-on break fix work on desktops laptops and peripherals including diagnostics part replacement and reassembly
* Unbox build and configure PCs and laptops to specification ensuring devices are ready for deployment
* Install upgrade and configure hardware components such as memory drives and graphics cards during new builds and repairs
* Set up and test peripherals such as monitors docking stations and printers
* Support the physical rollout of equipment as part of hardware refreshes office moves and deployment projects
* Provide second line support for hardware software and network issues escalated from the service desk
* Work on site to resolve incidents and service requests promptly ensuring minimal downtime
* Contribute to asset tracking equipment lifecycle management and maintaining secure access to systems
* Proven experience in hands-on PC and laptop building break fix repairs and peripheral setup * Strong troubleshooting skills with a background in desktop support and hardware diagnostics * Knowledge of Windows operating systems Active Directory and standard endpoint protection tools * Reliable detail-oriented and proactive approach to solving technical problems * Confident communicator able to provide clear user-friendly support across all staff levels
