* The role needs to deliver its responsibilities in such a way that protects GAR's need to provide an independent opinion on the quality of the control environment., * Acts as a business partner on risk management to cross functional shareholders, including, but not limited to, General Managers, Finance Directors, DBS Leadership Teams, Group Functions and the Executive. Able to hold the tension on roles and responsibilities and provide effective challenge to activities and decisions that may materially affect Diageo's risk profile.
* Ensures the ARC and Audit Committee are equipped to enact the right level of oversight on the risk management agenda.
* Energise, equip and encourage the organisation to construct solutions to embed risk management into the fabric of the business.
* Envisions the future and is bold in execution. Work with GAR LT team to embrace technology and develop a strategy and tools to better predict and prevent risk incidents.
* Demonstrates high level of personal integrity over compliance, control and risk activities and ensures others do the same., The purpose of the role is to take an active and independent leadership role in supporting and challenging the Diageo Board, Executive and Business Leaders to set and deliver an appropriate risk management strategy that aids delivery of long-lasting well-rounded business performance. This includes equipping the Audit Committee and ARC to enact appropriate oversight of the risk management agenda., * Delivery of internal audits and advisories in line with GAR's Ways of Working to provide assurance on the efficiency of risk management and control procedures. Risk Management:
* Working with the GAR Director, develop and implement a forward-looking vision for risk management. Leverage best practices internally and externally and bring innovative approaches that will help drive greater efficiency and effectiveness, specifically the adoption of technology solutions to shift from retrospective analysis to looking ahead and predict risk incidents and the impact with greater accuracy and speed.
* Refresh Diageo's principal risks and mitigation plans through an iterative process with senior management enabling the Board to identify, analyse, understand and handle current and emerging material risks within its business. Incorporate any external developments in governance, risk and control field including any regulatory or technological developments or changes which could significantly impact Diageo.

* Proven experience in an audit/risk/compliance/strategy function of a large international company or Big 4 in the area of governance, risk management and audit. * Professional accounting designation required. MBA or degree in risk management would also be beneficial. * Excellent quantitative and analytical skills. Strong understanding of SAP and advanced excel skills. * Related work experience in an environment where new technologies have been deployed. Functional excellence in best practice risk management approaches include predictive risk analysis. * Proven experience of building, developing and sustaining relationships with key team members at all levels. Able to influence and take strategic decisions across the business. * Strong interpersonal skills - ability to communicate well at all levels, internally & externally, written & verbal. Ability to provide risk reporting tailored to the relevant audience. * Possesses a high energy level, intellectual curiosity and strong work ethic with a commitment to continuous improvement in a dynamic and changing environment. * Ability to travel for audit assignments across the world.
