Assistant Accountant | Plymouth | £28,000 - £30,000 + Study Support

Butler Rose is delighted to be supporting a large and established business with the recruitment of a motivated and ambitious Assistant Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified AAT (or equivalent) finance professional to join a growing team that can offer genuine career development.

The role will include:

• Supporting the month-end close
• Preparing and posting journals (prepayments, accruals, intercompany recharges, etc.).
• Producing and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
• Supporting VAT return preparation and ledger control.
• Maintaining fixed asset registers and assisting with compliance processes.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and project work.

About you:

• Ideally AAT qualified or studying towards it - study support is available.
• Previous experience working in a finance function, with good knowledge of core accounting processes.
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems (desirable but not essential).
• A proactive approach, willing to take ownership and adapt to change.
• A team player with strong communication skills, able to liaise confidently with stakeholders across finance and the wider business.
