Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Building Services
Location: London
Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum

About the Role
You will lead the mechanical engineering design effort for high-end commercial projects across London, guiding the full project lifecycle from concept through to delivery. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with UK standards, driving technical excellence, mentoring teams, and delivering energy-efficient, sustainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead mechanical design of HVAC, plumbing, ventilation, and associated systems for commercial developments, including CAT A/B fit-outs and bespoke builds.
* Conduct and review detailed calculations, energy modeling, load assessments, and performance simulations.
* Produce comprehensive documentation: design drawings, specifications, reports, and technical schedules.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure integrated design solutions.
* Carry out site inspections, surveys, and resolve technical issues during installation and handover phases.
* Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing.
* Maintain awareness of evolving UK standards, sustainability practices, energy efficiency targets, and regulatory guidelines.

Essential Requirements
* Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline.
* At least 15 years of UK-based experience in mechanical building services design, especially within commercial projects.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred-or demonstrable equivalent experience working at that level.
* Proficiency with design tools: AutoCAD, Revit MEP, IES (or similar energy modeling packages).
* Strong technical knowledge of UK regulations, CIBSE guidelines, British Standards, and sustainability best practices.
* Proven leadership, project oversight, and client-facing capabilities.
* Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

* Experience leading detailed mechanical design through project stages in UK commercial environments.
* A strategic thinker who can balance technical precision with programme delivery, client engagement, and team mentorship.
* Commitment to delivering sustainable and energy-efficient building services solutions.
