RF Engineer x3
Ref: 2c38964fe49947f080c813ad42a1bf0cWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated RF Engineers to join Venn's client's growing technical team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to advanced RF systems across a variety of domains, including antenna design, RF circuit development, geolocation, and electronic warfare. You will be working in a fast-paced R&D environment on cutting-edge projects involving communication systems, sensor integration, and new defence technologies., * Design and optimise antennas (directional and omnidirectional) across frequency ranges including VHF, UHF, L-band, S-band, and C-band.
* Perform electromagnetic (EM) simulations using industry tools such as CST, HFSS, FEKO, or Altair to evaluate gain, radiation patterns, impedance matching, and polarisation
* Model RF propagation in complex environments
* Develop and test RF circuits, including filters, amplifiers, mixers, couplers, and attenuators
* Conduct testing and validation using VNAs, spectrum analysers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and software-defined radios (SDRs)
* Apply RF direction-finding and geolocation techniques such as Angle of Arrival (AOA), Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA), and Multilateration (MLAT)
* Support the design and evaluation of Electronic Warfare (EW) and Counter-UAS systems, including waveform generation and GPS spoofing countermeasures
* Ensure all developments adhere to UK export controls and relevant RF emission legislation
* Produce clear technical documentation, test plans, and compliance reports
* Participate in design reviews and cross-functional technical discussions
* Integration of RF payloads * RF signature analysis and evaluation of communication link vulnerabilities. * Digital Signal Processing (DSP) skills using MATLAB, Python (NumPy), or C/C++. * Experience with SDR platforms (e.g., Ettus USRP, HackRF, BladeRF, LimeSDR) and GNURadio or custom SDR development * Familiarity with EMC mitigation, shielding techniques, and enclosure design * Knowledge of Ofcom, CE marking, FCC regulations, and military standards (MIL-STD, DEF STAN)., * A degree in Electrical Engineering, RF/Microwave Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field * Demonstrated experience in practical RF engineering across the above disciplines. * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. * Passion for innovation and delivering technical excellence in a defence or high-security context. Desirable: * Experience working in defence, aerospace, or similar R&D-intensive industries. * Understanding of UK/EU/US compliance and export regulations for RF technologies.
