Senior Social Worker - Advice and Wellbeing Hub
Location: Reading Borough Council
Rate: £40 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract Type: Locum
Flexible/Hybrid Working Available

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Advice and Wellbeing Hub, working in close partnership with Homelessness Teams to support individuals facing rough sleeping and housing instability.

About the Role:
This is an assertive outreach position focused on people with complex needs, many of whom are rough sleeping or housed in 24/7 supported accommodation (such as the Pods or Salvation Army). The aim is to provide timely, targeted interventions that enable services to manage behaviours like hoarding, poor personal care, mental health issues, and aggression-ultimately helping individuals to sustain their accommodation and progress towards independence.

Key Responsibilities:

Work directly with individuals with complex needs in homelessness support services

Prevent evictions by managing behaviours that lead to placement breakdowns

Engage with commissioned non-statutory services and local housing providers

Deliver practical, person-centred interventions to break the cycle of rough sleeping

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across housing, health, and social care

Working Arrangements:
This role offers hybrid working with flexibility to work from home and Reading Civic Offices. Regular outreach and in-reach work will be required, so you must be within commuting distance of Reading.
