Halton Borough Council is seeking an experienced Advanced Social Worker - Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join their Adult Social Care team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and skilled professional to work in a forward-thinking and supportive environment, making a real difference to individuals with complex mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities:
Carry out Mental Health Act assessments, including decision-making around detention or alternative interventions

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including health professionals, community services, and emergency services

Provide expert advice and guidance to social work colleagues and partner agencies

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation:

Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007)

Care Act 2014

Mental Capacity Act 2005

Manage complex mental health cases, ensuring person-centred care and support for individuals and their families

Contribute to the development of mental health policy and best practice within the local authority

Maintain clear, accurate documentation in line with statutory duties

Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

Hold a current Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification

Substantial experience in mental health social work, particularly in high-pressure settings

In-depth knowledge of mental health legislation and care planning frameworks

Strong decision-making, communication, and crisis management skills

Able to work both autonomously and as part of a multi-agency team
