Payroll Manager

Ensure provision of an effective, efficient, accurate and timely payroll and pensions service
Provide technical support to the BSC Systems Team in relation to payroll activities
Provide operational, technical and strategic support and leadership to the Payroll and Pensions Manager and Payroll Team Managers respectively to support the delivery of transactional payroll services for the Authority
Lead on the development and introduction of new and changes to payroll services on behalf of payroll
To work with Team Managers and others in the BSC to develop and streamline payroll systems and processes used, liaise with key stakeholders to keep services customer focused, efficient, accurate and effective.
Carry our 1:2:1s and appraisals that direct & focus staff on key operational priorities
Experience of leading payroll teams in a performance culture to achieve measurable outcomes. Thorough knowledge of payroll legislation and practices, covering up to gross and gross to net procedures Experience of using ERP systems to deliver payroll service Knowledge of HMRC and pensions payroll requirements Experience of managing and coaching teams to meet the requirements of stakeholders and manage interfaces with those stakeholders Experience of working within the public sector is desirable but not essential
