Durham County Council is seeking a skilled and experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join their Children's Services team.

As an IRO, you will play a crucial role in overseeing care planning for looked after children, ensuring their voices are heard and their care plans meet their individual needs. You will provide critical oversight, chair statutory reviews, and work closely with social workers and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

• Chair Looked After Child (LAC) reviews and ensure care plans are robust and child-focused

• Monitor and challenge practice where standards are not being met

• Ensure the views and wishes of children are fully considered

• Promote permanence and stability in children's lives

• Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals

Essential Requirements:

• Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent

• At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services

• Social Work England Registration

• Driving license and access to own vehicle
