An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and ambitious Trainee to join an accountancy practice, focusing on personal tax and self-employed accounts. This role is ideal for someone looking to begin or progress their career in taxation and accounts, with full support and training provided.

You'll gain valuable, hands-on experience preparing tax returns and sole trader accounts, working with a variety of clients and developing a strong foundation in both compliance and advisory work.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing personal tax returns for a diverse client portfolio.
  • Support the preparation of accounts for self-employed individuals and sole traders.
  • Liaise with clients to gather necessary documentation and resolve queries.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Collaborate with team members and senior staff on client projects.
  • Ensure tasks are completed in line with HMRC deadlines and relevant legislation.
  • Participate in training programmes and internal development initiatives.

Personal Requirements

  • Strong interest in tax, accounting and financial services.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organised and able to manage time effectively across multiple tasks.
  • Good numeracy skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
  • A-levels (or equivalent) required; a relevant degree or prior experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to study towards a professional qualification (e.g. AAT, ATT).
