Eden Brown Synergy is currently seeking an experienced and proactive Qualified Social Worker to join the Duty & Assessment Service at Manchester City Council. This is a full-time, fully office-based locum role for practitioners who can hit the ground running and thrive in a fast-paced front-door environment.

About the Role:

This role sits within Manchester's Duty & Assessment Service, the frontline of children's social care. You will undertake initial assessments, S47 enquiries, Child and Family Assessments, and ensure appropriate thresholds and outcomes are applied from the first point of contact.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing incoming referrals and completing timely assessments
• Carrying out joint visits with partners (e.g. police, schools, health)
• Conducting Section 47 enquiries and strategy discussions
• Making informed, evidence-based decisions for next steps
• Ensuring all safeguarding practices are in line with statutory guidance
• Working within tight timescales and maintaining high professional standards

This is a fast-paced team, so applicants must have previous experience in an assessment/duty setting and be able to start quickly with minimal induction.

Essential Requirements:

• Social Work qualification (BA, MA, DipSW or equivalent)
• Registration with Social Work England
• At least 3 years' recent experience in a frontline children's social work role
• Proven experience in Duty and Assessment / MASH / Front Door services
• Strong risk analysis and decision-making skills
• Full-time availability and ability to work on-site 5 days per week
