Eden Brown Synergy is currently recruiting for a passionate and experienced Advanced Social Work Practitioner to join the Children in Care Team (CASS) at Bury Council.

Role: Advanced Social Work Practitioner - Children in Care Team

Location: Bury, Greater Manchester
Contract: Locum | Full-Time
Working Pattern: Hybrid - Minimum 3 days per week in the office

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and forward-thinking team, supporting some of Bury's most vulnerable children and young people. As an Advanced Social Work Practitioner, you will take a lead in delivering high-quality social work within the Children in Care Service (CASS), offering stability, care planning, and aspirational outcomes for children and young people in local authority care.

You will:

  • Manage complex caseloads involving Looked After Children, care leavers, and children placed under care orders
  • Provide support, mentoring, and reflective supervision to less experienced team members
  • Contribute to service improvement, helping to shape better outcomes for children in care
  • Represent the service in multi-agency meetings, care planning reviews, and court proceedings
  • Ensure all work is compliant with statutory requirements and best practice frameworks

This role is a key part of Bury's transformation journey, focused on creating innovative, relationship-based social work practice that places the child at the centre of everything.

What We're Looking For:

We're seeking a practitioner with a proven track record in Looked After Children's services, excellent assessment and planning skills, and the confidence to model good practice within the team.

Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Extensive experience working within Looked After Children / Permanency / Leaving Care settings
  • Previous experience in a senior or advanced practitioner role is desirable
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, care planning, and permanency pathways
