Eden Brown Synergy is currently recruiting for a highly experienced and motivated Qualified Social Worker to join the Referral and Assessment Team at Bolton Council. This is a frontline role that offers a fast-paced, dynamic working environment where you can make an immediate difference in children's lives.

About the Role:

Working within Bolton's Referral and Assessment Team, you will play a pivotal role in managing urgent and complex referrals across the borough. The team is based at Castle Hill, but you will be expected to conduct home visits across Bolton and contribute to the duty rota on a regular basis.

As a Social Worker in this team, you will:

  • Undertake initial child and family assessments following referrals to establish any safeguarding concerns
  • Complete Section 47 (s47) enquiries, including coordination of statutory meetings and closures if no further action is required
  • Provide short-term interventions, ensuring children and families are signposted or transitioned appropriately to other teams
  • Work within family court proceedings, taking statutory action where necessary, such as EPOs or initiating care proceedings
  • Participate in duty rota cover, managing a reactive caseload in a timely and efficient manner

Due to the urgent nature of many referrals, you must be able to attend home visits on short notice and respond flexibly to the needs of the service.

What We're Looking For:

This role is ideal for social workers who thrive in high-pressure, frontline environments and are confident in managing safeguarding concerns from first point of contact.

You will need to demonstrate:

  • Solid understanding of statutory safeguarding procedures
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage your own diary
  • Confidence in working within the court system
  • Strong written and verbal communication for assessments and legal documentation
  • Flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced and often unpredictable workload

Essential Requirements:

  • Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree / DipSW / CQSW)
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • Minimum 3 years' post-qualified experience in a children's statutory team (preferably Referral & Assessment)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Why Join Bolton Council?

Bolton is a progressive and supportive authority that places children and families at the centre of everything. With well-established processes, effective supervision, and a commitment to continuous improvement, you'll have the support you need to perform confidently in your role.

Benefits of Working with Eden Brown Synergy:

  • DBS check paid for by Eden Brown Synergy
  • Referral bonus for recommending colleagues
  • Self-sourced placement bonus
  • Twice-weekly payroll
  • Full support from your dedicated recruitment consultant throughout your placement
