Equans is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join the team at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

The post holder will take direct lead over various project aspects and work alongside the project managers to help implement project goals, create and deliver reports, analyse data from project execution, and any other duties as determined by project managers.

What will you deliver?

  • Make sure project risks of works allocated to you are identified and managed through effective mitigation measures
  • Manage the delivery of projects allocated to you to high standards by budgeting and programming
  • Manage all phases of projects allocated to you, from instruction to close out, to meet all contractual requirements
  • Manage designated projects to meet company objectives post-contract with an input into pre-contract requirements emphasising customer care and business excellence
  • Monitoring and communicating project financial performance and administration for all assigned projects
  • Oversee the co-ordination of operatives, subcontractors and suppliers on projects allocated to you in a planned and controlled manner ensuring efficiency and minimising costs
  • Implement and comply with EQUANS policies and procedures, all legal requirements and best practice within EQUANS Group's including regular safety inspections within the allocated business area
  • Keep project tracker up to date working with Project Coordinator to ensure information is accurate and up to date
  • Assist in the preparation of drawings, specifications and tender documents for works allocated to you. Must adhere to requirements to be compliant with all statutory requirements including Health and safety
  • Ensuring defects are managed and closed out within the specified contractual limits
  • Supervising contractors, liaising with clients and other departments within the Company during projects where necessary
  • Check and comment on designs and specifications provided by consultants for larger capital projects
  • Monitor working procedures and performance of contractors regarding health and safety. Liaise closely with Technical Services, and Estates Maintenance Managers to assist with monitoring and performance measurement
  • Liaise with the Client team to ensure all defect update details are up to date and there are aware of progress of defect issues. Responsible for participating in the 'on call' rota as and when required, after suitable training and relevant experience is gained
  • To ensure all associated trackers are up to date to ensure at all times

Who are we looking for?

  • Experience operating in the public and/or private sector with a demonstrable track record of directly managing small works within large and complex estates is essential
  • High level of verbal, written and numeric skills and must be computer literate. A sound knowledge of standard spreadsheet packages and computerised estates and project management systems
  • Must be able to manage people, be self-motivating, able to work on own initiative, liaise and delegate effectively with staff operating in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Construction Design and Management Regulations and other relevant statutory requirements will be required
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of technical and estates and building issues in the provision of construction, maintenance, and FM services
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Experience of Microsoft Office software essential, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Project

This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
