Brent Council is recruiting a Locum Social Worker to support a focused project within the Debt Recovery Team, working in partnership with the Customer Review Service. This is a targeted intervention project aimed at identifying and progressing cases where Mental Capacity Act (MCA) assessments have not yet been completed.

This is a unique opportunity for a social worker with a strong understanding of mental capacity and adult social care legislation to play a key role in a time-sensitive, high-priority project.

Key Responsibilities:
Review and target cases where mental capacity is not yet established

Complete and record MCA assessments to inform decision-making

Prompt timely referrals to the Appointee/Deputyship team

Work collaboratively with Debt Recovery and Customer Review Service colleagues

Ensure compliance with legal frameworks and uphold best practice

Maintain clear records and contribute to the overall delivery of the project

Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker with current SWE registration

Strong knowledge and experience of the Mental Capacity Act

Experience working in adult social care, ideally within financial assessment, safeguarding or review teams

Ability to manage a focused caseload and deliver work to tight timescales

Clear communication, attention to detail, and collaborative working skills
