Kitchen Manager

Contract Type: Full-Time | Hours: 37.5 per week (7.5 hours/day) | Salary: Competitive, negotiable based on experience
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Kitchen Manager to lead the food production and hospitality services at Russells Hall Hospital. Reporting to the Head of Catering and working closely with the Retail Café Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality meals and exceptional service across multiple hospital sites, including Corbett and Guest Hospitals.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will guide and support the kitchen team in preparing and producing meals in line with agreed menus and recipes. You will work collaboratively with Catering Supervisors to ensure smooth front-of-house service during all mealtimes and provide operational support to retail and café services. Your responsibilities will include managing staff performance, recruitment, training, and appraisals, as well as handling rosters, sickness absence, and payroll processes.
You will be expected to manage stock levels, place timely orders, and liaise with storekeepers to address supply issues. Regular stocktakes and unit returns will be part of your duties, along with monitoring food waste, controlling costs, and ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards. You will also support financial forecasting and budget management, contribute to audits, and implement improvement plans where necessary.
The ideal candidate will have significant hands-on culinary experience in a high-volume environment, hold a Level 3 Food Hygiene certification, and possess strong leadership and communication skills. You should be IT literate, adaptable, and capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced healthcare setting. Experience in healthcare catering is highly desirable, along with a proactive, customer-focused approach and a commitment to delivering excellence.
