Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Remit: Lead a portfolio of United Utilities Wastewater projects

Location: You have the option to be based out of the Warrington or Preston offices initially throughout 2025 until 2026. From 2026 onwards, you will be expected to work three days a week on site in Windermere (Cumbria).

Working from home: 2 days a week optional.

Employer: Tier 1 Main Contractor

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Competitive basic salary + location uplifts if living away (see below for details) + car allowance + bonus & package

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Quantity Surveyor to commercially lead the delivery of multiple wastewater infrastructure projects for the United Utilities framework. This role requires strategic oversight, a deep understanding of NEC contracts, and the ability to deliver high-value schemes across diverse teams and locations.

The role begins in Warrington or Preston (you can work in Cumbria initially if preferred), from 2026 you will be expected to work a minimum of 3 days a week on site in Windermere (Cumbria). Comprehensive travel support and allowances are provided for qualifying candidates.

If Living Away:

  • 15% salary uplift if living 120+ miles from Windermere
  • 20% salary uplift if living 200+ miles from Windermere
  • Accommodation: Paid for if living away from home
  • Daily Allowance: c.£22.50/day for food


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial delivery of multiple wastewater contracts under the United Utilities framework
  • Manage and administer NEC contracts, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting
  • Provide strategic guidance to Quantity Surveying teams and operational stakeholders
  • Oversee cost control, risk management, and subcontractor engagement
  • Ensure project compliance with legal, contractual, and internal standards
  • Build strong client relationships and promote long-term collaboration

Skills & Experience Required

  • Recent and relevant UK water sector experience, ideally within wastewater (essential)
  • Strong commercial leadership on infrastructure projects for a Main Contractor (essential)
  • Proven ability to manage NEC contract workflows and financial reporting
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in industry-standard QS tools and software
