Ref: 3431282623_1753353007North East Lincolnshire Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced EDT Social Worker to join the Emergency Duty Team. This crucial role ensures the safety and wellbeing of children outside of standard working hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
About the Role
As an EDT Social Worker, you will respond to urgent safeguarding concerns and provide high-quality social work interventions to vulnerable children and families during out-of-hours periods. You will work closely with our Integrated Front Door (IFD) and key partner agencies including the police, health, and other emergency services to ensure swift, appropriate responses to risk.
Shift Pattern & Location Requirements
Operates on a 3-week rolling rota including daytime, evening, and weekend shifts
Includes weeknight shifts (Mon-Thurs 5pm-8:30am), Friday 4:30pm-8:30am, and weekend day/evening coverage
Every 3 weeks includes a full weekend off
While on shift, candidates must be based within the North East Lincolnshire area
Key Responsibilities
Provide immediate response to safeguarding concerns and urgent support needs during out-of-hours periods
Work collaboratively with partner agencies to protect children and young people at risk
Manage a caseload of complex cases involving assessment, planning, and implementation of care plans
Ensure timely and appropriate decision-making to safeguard children
Record all decisions and actions accurately and in line with statutory and departmental guidelines
Work closely with the daytime Integrated Front Door team to ensure continuity of care and robust handovers
What We're Looking For
Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
Proven experience in children's safeguarding and emergency response
Ability to make confident, timely decisions in high-pressure situations
Strong multi-agency working and communication skills
Understanding of statutory responsibilities and relevant legislation
Commitment to child-centred and solution-focused practice
Flexibility to work on a shift-based rota and remain local during shifts
