Leicestershire County Council is seeking a confident and experienced Senior Practitioner to join the Hinckley Family Help Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled social worker with a strong background in Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), Looked After Children (LAC), and court work to step into a leadership role supporting families and mentoring colleagues.

Role Overview

As a Senior Practitioner, you will provide leadership and guidance to less experienced practitioners, taking the lead on complex cases and ensuring high-quality practice across the team. You will play a key role in decision-making, supervision, and service improvement, while remaining actively involved in frontline work.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and support less experienced social workers to achieve positive outcomes for children and families

• Lead on complex cases and chair key meetings such as core groups and case reviews

• Monitor and evaluate the quality of social work practice within the team

• Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures

• Deliver case reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve practice

• Contribute to service development through data analysis and strategic insights

• Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to deliver coordinated support

• Model good practice and promote team wellbeing and professional development

Requirements

• Proven experience in CIN, CP, LAC, and court proceedings

• A solid understanding of child and family social work theory and practice

• Strong communication skills and the ability to present professionally to varied audiences

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex cases

• Ability to manage a demanding caseload and support others in prioritising effectively

• Confident in building strong working relationships with families and professional networks

• Commitment to continuous professional development and mentoring others

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
