Leicester City Council - Social Worker (Single Assessment Team)

Leicester City Council is seeking experienced and dedicated Social Workers to join their Single Assessment Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced frontline service, focusing on timely and effective responses to safeguard and support children and families in need.

Role Overview:

As a member of the Single Assessment Team, you will manage a varied caseload of referrals, undertaking assessments and making informed decisions to determine the most appropriate intervention and support required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake Initial Assessments and Section 47 enquiries

• Complete Child and Family Assessments within statutory timescales

• Work with families under Child in Need and Child Protection plans

• Liaise effectively with multi-agency partners to coordinate support

• Make clear recommendations regarding next steps, including referrals to long-term teams or initiating legal proceedings where appropriate

• Maintain accurate and timely case recordings and reports

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration

• Previous experience in frontline children's services, ideally in an assessment or safeguarding team

• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, and statutory frameworks

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict timescales

• Commitment to working in a child-centred, strengths-based way

Working Arrangements:

• Full-time, office-based with some flexibility as required by the service
