East Riding Council is currently looking for a dedicated and experienced Assessment Social Worker to join their frontline team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact in children's lives while working in a supportive, progressive local authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Completing Initial Assessments under Section 17

  • Carrying out Core Assessments and Child Protection Enquiries under Section 47

  • Conducting Pre-Birth Assessments, Risk Assessments, Human Rights Assessments, and Age Assessments

  • Undertaking assessments using the Common Assessment Framework

  • Delivering Section 17 support to vulnerable children and families

  • Conducting home visits to monitor, safeguard, and promote child welfare

  • Working in partnership with multi-agency professionals to meet children's and families' needs

  • Producing detailed Initial Child Protection Conference reports

  • Chairing and contributing to Core Group Meetings

  • Implementing and reviewing Child Protection Plans

  • Initiating and progressing through Care Proceedings

  • Applying for and securing Emergency Protection Orders

  • Preparing and presenting high-quality Case Conference Reports

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England

  • Strong background in assessment and safeguarding work

  • Sound understanding of relevant legislation and statutory duties

  • Excellent report-writing and communication skills

  • Ability to manage risk and work under pressure in a busy environment
