Calderdale Council is seeking an experienced Assessment Social Worker to join their dynamic and supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled practitioner to contribute to meaningful change in the lives of children and families, working in a fast-paced but rewarding assessment environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting Initial Assessments under Section 17

• Carrying out Core Assessments and Child Protection Enquiries under Section 47

• Completing Pre-Birth Assessments, Risk Assessments, Human Rights Assessments, and Age Assessments

• Using the Common Assessment Framework to inform decisions

• Providing Section 17 support to children and families in need

• Performing home visits to monitor welfare and ensure child safety

• Liaising with partner agencies to deliver holistic and effective support

• Producing Initial Child Protection Conference reports

• Chairing and participating in Core Group Meetings

• Developing and implementing Child Protection Plans

• Initiating and completing Care Proceedings

• Applying for and securing Emergency Protection Orders

• Preparing and presenting Case Conference Reports

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with valid Social Work England registration

• Proven frontline experience in children's assessment and safeguarding

• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory responsibilities

• Ability to manage complex caseloads and work under pressure
