Practice Supervisor - Locality Service | Derbyshire County Council
Location: Derbyshire (Locality-Based)
Working Arrangement: Hybrid/agile working available

Derbyshire County Council is currently seeking a Practice Supervisor to join their Locality Service within Children's Early Help and Safeguarding Services.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a leadership role in a supportive, forward-thinking environment that promotes strengths-based and systemic practice to improve outcomes for children and families.

About the Role

As a Practice Supervisor, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and group supervision for Social Workers.
  • Support the Team Manager with effective service delivery.
  • Champion systemic practice and ensure it is embedded into day-to-day work.
  • Lead on quality assurance, reflective supervision, and development of best practice.
  • Work alongside practitioners on complex cases, offering expert advice and coaching.
  • Play a key role in multi-agency working, training, performance reporting, and service planning.

What You'll Need

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g., Degree, DipSW, CQSW)
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • Substantial post-qualifying experience in statutory children's services
  • Experience supervising or mentoring social work staff
  • Strong understanding of child development, risk assessment, and safeguarding procedures
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
