Butler Rose is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a client in the Ilminster area. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented procurement professional to join a forward-thinking organisation who are looking for a Procurement Specialist to take ownership of key procurement activities, ensuring operational requirements are met efficiently while contributing to the continuous improvement of processes.

My client is willing to consider candidates at all levels of procurement experience for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the purchase of materials in line with operational needs, taking action based on the requirements generated by the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system.
  • Ensure the accuracy and maintenance of supplier lead times, safety stock levels, and other procurement parameters within the MRP/ERP system. Keep all purchase orders and amendments updated.
  • Support the tendering process for new materials or services and collaborate with internal teams to negotiate optimal pricing and terms, securing the best outcomes for the organisation.
  • Build and nurture strong, proactive relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and quality of supply.
  • Work closely with internal teams and suppliers to optimise inventory levels, ensuring stock availability aligns with product life cycles and business needs.
  • Contribute to cost-reduction initiatives by identifying savings opportunities and implementing effective changes.
  • Monitor and report on procurement performance indicators such as On-Time In-Full (OTIF), quality metrics, and Purchase Price Variance (PPV). Develop and execute action plans to achieve performance targets.
  • Foster collaboration across departments to address purchasing challenges and ensure the business's operational requirements are met.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in procurement and supply chain operations, introducing tools and procedures that drive efficiency and support long-term business goals.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and company policies, including quality and environmental standards.

What We're Looking For:

This role requires someone who can balance operational demands with a focus on process improvement. You should be highly organised, confident using a range of systems, have good base procurement experience (as a minimum) and be capable of building strong working relationships.
