Reporting to: Senior Benefit Assessor

Cheshire West & Chester Council is seeking a committed and detail-oriented Benefit Assessor to join our Revenues and Benefits team.

In this role, you will assess Housing and Council Tax Benefit claims in accordance with current legislation, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and timely processing. You will also support customers face-to-face, over the phone, and occasionally through home visits, delivering excellent customer service throughout.

Key Responsibilities include:

Processing a wide range of benefit applications

Ensuring customers receive all support they are entitled to

Identifying and recovering overpaid benefits

Maintaining accurate records in line with data protection laws

Liaising with other council teams, landlords, DWP and other partners

Supporting fraud prevention and compliance

Staying up to date with benefit legislation and policy changes
