Location: Exeter - hybrid working
Salary: £28,000
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Reports to: Finance Manager

About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join a large, national business in Exeter, with a specific focus on the Sales Ledger. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone starting their finance career, looking to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced and supportive environment, or an experienced individual who is looking for a supportive and collaborative team to join.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Sales Ledger function by raising and processing customer invoices accurately and promptly.
  • Allocate customer payments to the correct accounts
  • Assist with credit control - sending reminders and chasing outstanding debts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records
  • Help reconcile the sales ledger to the general ledger
  • Respond to internal and external queries regarding customer accounts and invoicing
  • Liaise with the sales and customer service teams to resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with month-end reporting and analysis as required

What We're Looking For:

  • Some prior experience in a finance or accounts role (internship or work placement included if accompanied with a finance degree)
  • Ideally relevant study (AAT, ACCA part-qualified, etc.) is a plus
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and sales ledger processes
  • Good Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
