Equans is looking for a Commercial and Contractual Manager to join the team at Queen Alexandria Hospital in Portsmouth on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.

The Commercial and Contractual Manager will oversee the financial and contractual aspects of large-scale FM project delivery. This includes managing the lifecycle of commercial variations, particularly Deeds of Variation (DoVs), and ensuring successful project execution in line with client requirements, budgetary controls, and compliance frameworks. The role requires strong contract management expertise, financial acumen, and the ability to interface effectively with operational, legal, and client teams.

What will you deliver?

  • Lead the negotiation, drafting, and implementation of Deeds of Variation (DoVs), ensuring legal and commercial accuracy
  • Interpret FM contracts (e.g., PFI, TFM, NEC3/4) and identify risks, obligations, and opportunities
  • Ensure commercial compliance with statutory regulations, contractual obligations, and company policies
  • Manage and oversee the commercial aspects of large-scale FM projects, from initiation to completion
  • Work with project delivery teams to ensure scope, budget, and timelines are adhered to
  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting
  • Liaise with internal departments including Legal, Finance, Procurement, and Operations to coordinate project execution
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and supply chain partners
  • * Manage change processes related to FM services and capital projects, ensuring all variations are fully assessed and approved
  • Monitor and control project risks, ensuring appropriate mitigations are in place
  • Support strategic decision-making by providing commercial insight and analysis
  • Prepare and present commercial reports, cash flow forecasts, and project valuations to senior leadership
  • Contribute to governance processes including change control boards, contract review meetings, and client audits

Who are we looking for?

  • Proven experience in a commercial/project management role within the Facilities Management or Built Environment sector
  • Commercial & Financial Acumen
  • Contract Negotiation & Drafting
  • Strong track record managing Deeds of Variation and other commercial contract amendments
  • Experience delivering large-scale FM or capital projects (£1M+)
  • Working knowledge of FM contract forms (e.g., PFI, NEC, JCT)
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills

This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
