IN OFFICE

We're proud to be partnering with a highly respected manufacturing business in Exeter to recruit an experienced HR lead. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and proactive HR professional looking to take the next step into a leadership role within a fast-paced, operationally focused environment.

This position is ideal for someone with a solid grounding in generalist HR who thrives in a hands-on setting and is confident leading a small team, supporting line managers, and driving forward corporate HR initiatives.

The Role:

Working closely with the Head of HR, you'll take the lead on team coordination, employee relations, HR policy, and compliance reporting. You'll also support HR activity across multiple sites, with a strong focus on workforce planning, staff engagement, and continuous improvement.

You'll be a key player in shaping how HR supports the wider business-from managing KPIs and leading internal audits, to coaching team members and advising on complex ER matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the daily workflow of the HR team, including team briefings and inbox triage
  • Act as deputy to the Head of HR and represent HR at senior level meetings
  • Guide the HR team on employment law updates and complex employee relations cases.
  • Maintain and update all HR policies, audits, and compliance registers.
  • Support delivery of L&D programmes, workforce planning, and salary benchmarking
  • Manage monthly reports including attrition, overtime, absence, and organisational structure.
  • Build strong relationships with line managers and union representatives
  • Provide strategic input into corporate HR initiatives and change management projects.

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong HR experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor HR team members
  • In-depth knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR compliance
  • Confident in handling complex ER matters, including disciplinary and grievances
  • CIPD Level 5 qualified
  • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a thriving manufacturing employer in Exeter, with clear progression potential and the chance to make a real impact on HR service delivery.
