St Helens Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Working Age Adults team, supporting individuals aged 18 to 67 with learning disabilities, physical/sensory impairments, and enduring mental health conditions.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a well-managed and highly supportive environment, where you'll play a key role in delivering statutory adult social care responsibilities in line with the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983, and Mental Capacity Act 2005.

Key Responsibilities:
Carry out Care Act assessments, care planning, and reviews

Lead and coordinate safeguarding investigations

Undertake Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest decisions

Manage Court of Protection work, including 21a challenges

Collaborate with health and social care partners to deliver holistic support

Support the AMHP rota (up to 8pm on weekdays), where required

Provide urgent responses to critical cases, occasionally outside of standard hours

Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker (Degree/DipSW/CQSW)

Registered with Social Work England

Proven experience in Adult Social Care

Sound knowledge of the Care Act, MCA, and MHA

Experience with safeguarding, CoP, and complex casework

Ability to work flexibly, both independently and as part of a team

Access to a vehicle and full UK driving licence
