Butler Rose is delighted to be exclusively partnering with a leading manufacturing organisation to recruit for a Commercial Controller to cover maternity cover until September 2026. This is an outstanding opportunity for a commercially-minded finance professional to join a well-established business with operations across UK sites.

This role can be based in Wantage and reports directly into the UK Finance Manager. It offers a varied and rewarding challenge within a dynamic commercial finance function, playing a key role in supporting decision-making and driving financial performance.

This position would suit an experienced finance professional who is Qualified by Experience (QBE), Qualified or working towards a formal qualification. While an accountancy qualification is advantageous, it is not essential for success in this role.

The Role:
The Commercial Controller will support the UK Commercial Team in line with a European-wide Swiss Principal business model. The successful candidate will work independently across multiple functions with a strong focus on data accuracy, financial analysis, and stakeholder communication.

Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure accuracy of sales and COGS data for commercial reporting
* Work closely with the Commercial Team on pricing, customer contracts, rebates, and LME/MP reconciliation
* Reconcile packaging stock held at customer locations and support recovery of any losses
* Liaise with Shared Services to manage credit control and payment tracking
* Prepare monthly financial reports, forecasts, and budgets for commercial operations
* Conduct margin, cost, and variance analysis to support decision-making
* Provide input on audits, SOX compliance, and stock/freight working capital reviews

Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Experience in a commercial finance role, ideally within manufacturing or a similarly complex sector
* Comfortable preparing and presenting financial reports, forecasts, and variance analysis
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including use of macros) SAP and OneStream experience highly desirable
* Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with the ability to work with large data sets
* Excellent organisational and time management skills, this is a busy, high-responsibility role
* Confident communicator with the ability to work independently and collaborate across departments
* Flexible, adaptable and commercially aware
* Experience with hedging, SOX, audits, or freight/stock analysis is an advantage
