The Job role:

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will handle tendering, estimating, and on-site measurement. You'll work on a mix of frameworks and high-profile contracts across housing, defence, commercial, and education sectors. Your main duties will include:

  • Preparing cost estimates for contracts and tenders, identifying risks and proposing mitigation.
  • Managing cost value reconciliations, highlighting risks and opportunities for effective contract planning.
  • Collaborating with the Contracts Manager on productivity targets and labour incentives.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to manage variations and contract progress.
  • Reviewing weekly site reports to ensure accurate cost data (labour rates, budgets, quality, and safety).

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing projects from tender to final account.
  • Ability to manage projects up to £2 million annually.
  • Experience with Schedule of Rates (SORs).
  • A background in painting, refurbishment, or construction (preferably).
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on identifying business opportunities and maximising value.
