Job Title: Fabric Engineer / Fabric & Porter Operator
Location: LSE Glengall Road, 478 Glengall Road, London, SE15 6SJ
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
Pay Rate: £20.78 per hour (umbrella)
Holiday Entitlement: 32 days (AWR)
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Temp (potential temp-to-perm)

We are currently seeking an experienced Fabric Engineer / Fabric & Porter Operator to join the team at LSE Glengall Road, supporting both fabric maintenance and porterage duties on site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out general fabric tasks including carpentry, painting, decorating, ceiling tile and carpet tile replacements.

  • Deliver PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) and reactive maintenance in line with service level agreements and performance targets.

  • Undertake porterage duties including furniture resets, post deliveries, and loading bay duties.

  • Assist with compliance works including fire door checks (BM TRADA) and water hygiene (ACOP L8).

  • Work with contractors ensuring RAMS are submitted and permits are issued appropriately.

  • Manage stock levels, order materials, and maintain accurate records.

  • Respond to Helpdesk requests and update job status and documentation accordingly.

  • Liaise with client representatives to resolve day-to-day issues and ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Assist in covering for absent staff and contribute to a positive team environment.

  • Maintain consumables in washroom and catering areas.

  • Adhere to company health & safety policies and procedures at all times.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role with fabric maintenance skills.

  • Enhanced DBS Check including barred list (must be in place before starting).

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • No driving licence required.

  • Uniform will be provided.
