Trafford Council is seeking an experienced and driven Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Team Manager to lead their borough-wide DoLS service within Adult Social Care. This is a hybrid role offering the opportunity to make a direct impact on safeguarding the rights and freedoms of vulnerable adults.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operational delivery of the DoLS service, ensuring legal compliance, and embedding high standards of person-centred professional practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the operational delivery of Trafford's DoLS service

Ensure statutory compliance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Schedule A1

Provide managerial oversight, supervision, and leadership of the DoLS team

Quality assure and authorise DoLS assessments

Drive continuous improvement and service development

Collaborate with stakeholders to promote best practice and integrated working

Ensure efficient resource allocation and support innovation within the team

Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker (registered with Social Work England) or equivalent

Best Interests Assessor (BIA) qualification essential

In-depth knowledge of DoLS legislation, frameworks, and case law

Proven experience leading teams and improving practice standards

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Working Pattern:

Hybrid working - 2 days office-based (including Tuesday), remaining days remote

Interviews to be held in person, where possible
