Maternity cover starting October 2025 - Supported by a great team of longstanding colleagues, enjoy real job satisfaction and a superb work environment at Bishopston Vets for Pets! By joining us on a fixed term basis, not only will you enjoy a superb work/life balance, but you’ll also benefit from our recent renovations that have enhanced our workspace, providing a lovely office and staff room for your comfort and well-being, as well as the already spacious facilities.

The role
One of our experienced vets will shortly be taking maternity leave so we’re looking for a good-natured veterinary surgeon to join us in looking after our furry friends while she’s away!

Ideally your rota will cover Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 7pm and 1 in 3 Saturday morning’s 9am to 12pm, but if this doesn’t quite match what you’re looking for we’d still love to hear from you.

About us
Located in the vibrant heart of Gloucester Road, near Bristol city centre, our standalone practice thrives in the heart of the community. Our prime location ensures a diverse caseload and a loyal client base, making every day rewarding.  We are also Silver accredited as a cat-friendly practice, and we are committed to providing fear-free experiences for every patient.

Our real asset is our team though and this is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive, fun and friendly team where every day, you’ll benefit from working with at least one other vet and a team of 3 nurses.

The benefits

  • Salary of £40,000 to £60,000 fte, commensurate with experience
  • 6.6 weeks holiday
  • Life Assurance 4 x Annual Salary
  • Contributory Pension Scheme
  • Paid memberships (RCVS, BVA, VDS)
  • Generous CPD allowance
  • No OOH
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Exclusive company discounts and rewards – including 20% off at Pets at Home, The Groom Room and Vet Group

Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
