Due to continued expansion, a well-regarded, independent firm of Chartered Accountants based in are seeking an Accounts Semi Senior to join their busy and collaborative accounts team. The firm works with a diverse range of clients across various sectors including SMEs, partnerships, and owner-managed businesses.

Role Responsibilities

  • Prepare VAT, PAYE, and control account reconciliations.
  • Draft year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
  • Ensure compliance with FRS105 and FRS102 1A standards.
  • Maintain accurate working papers and complete file reviews.
  • Perform analytical reviews and highlight key findings.
  • Draft corporation tax computations for review.
  • Assist with management accounts and flag unusual trends.
  • Liaise with clients to gather info and resolve queries.
  • Review and submit VAT returns guide junior staff on improvements.
  • Support statutory compliance and audit fieldwork.
  • Report audit findings and raise issues with the Audit Manager.
  • Manage deadlines, budgets, and file quality.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to their development.
  • Review and support junior team members, offering feedback and training.

Personal Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience within a UK accountancy practice.
  • Currently studying ACA/ACCA or fully qualified AAT.
  • Experience supporting audit assignments is a plus.
  • Strong ethical approach with high levels of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Keen to continuously improve technical skills and stay up to date with changing standards.
  • Reliable team player with good communication skills.
  • Patient and supportive when assisting junior staff with their development.
  • Able to liaise confidently with clients and team members alike.
