Plant Maintenance Engineer

Hayes

Up to £35K (Overtime available)

Plant Maintenance Engineer is required to join a lead engineering company based in Hayes. We're looking for a proactive and reliable engineer to support on-site maintenance operations, ensuring machinery and building systems run smoothly to achieve great performance. If you are a skilled and hands-on professional with strong mechanical and electrical background, thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy a variety of engineering challenges, this role is for you. At this company you are going to find a collaborative team environment with supportive training and exposure to complex engineering systems in a regulated environment.

This is a full-time permanent role and you will need to have flexibility for rotation shifts (double days):

    • Day shift: Monday-Friday 6am-2pm
    • Late shift: Monday -Friday 2pm-10pm.

**Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK for at least 2 years**

Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out mechanical and electrical maintenance across facility equipment and plant systems
  • Performing routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and statutory checks
  • Diagnosing faults and implementing efficient repairs
  • Supporting reactive maintenance and out-of-hours call-in when required
  • Working with pumps, motors, pipework (PVC), gas ovens, chiller units, air handling units, and more
  • Keeping maintenance logs, identifying required spares, and ensuring compliance with H&S and environmental standards

Essential experience required:

  • Proven experience in plant or building maintenance
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical skills
  • Comfortable working at heights and using hand/power tools
  • Physically capable (manual handling, lifting, prolonged standing)
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure

Desirable requirements:

  • NVQ, BTEC, or relevant trade qualification (mechanical or electrical)
  • Time-served apprenticeship
  • Experience on COMAH sites
  • Knowledge of gas ovens, chillers, rectifiers, air conditioning/air handling systems
