Team Manager - Children's Social Work (Child Protection)

Rate: Competitive (please enquire)
Contract: Ongoing
Hours: Office-based, 8:30am - 5:00pm (with some flexibility)

Leeds City Council is seeking experienced and confident Team Managers to lead busy and high-performing Children's Social Work Area Teams.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a pivotal leadership role within a service committed to delivering high-quality, restorative, and family-led social work practice.

What We're Looking For:

We're seeking strong leaders who can demonstrate competence and confidence in managing the full social work journey from referral to permanence, including:

• Referral, Assessment & CIN work

• Strategy discussions, S47, Child Protection

• Pre-proceedings, court processes, and progression into permanence/adoption

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and influence positive team culture

• Oversee and support performance, case decision-making, and outcome-focused supervision

• Provide leadership on staff welfare, HR matters, and ongoing development

• Ensure practice aligns with the council's restorative and family-led approach

• Be present in the office (8:30-5) and flexible to meet service needs, including supporting safety planning and case continuity

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Team Manager in children's social care

• Ability to evidence successful management of cases through the entire statutory process

• Confident decision-maker with strong leadership and supervision skills

• Commitment to high standards and child-centred practice
