Veterinary Surgeon

Ref: vets4pets-45058
Vets for Pets
Veterinary & Animal Care
£45000 - £65000 GBP Salaried

We are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our wonderful colleagues at our Bitterne Practice on a full-time or part time basis.

About us:
The practice is bright, spacious, and built to the highest industry leading standards. We are a very well-equipped practice including a digital X-ray, a dental X-ray, an ultrasound and an in-house lab.

Andrew, our vet partner, leads a very experienced team of 4 Vets, 4 Nurses and 4 receptionists who all share a passion for animal welfare.

Our colleagues put the welfare of animals and their team first, so to ensure that not only the animals get the focus we have a separate nurse and reception team. This will allow you the time to focus on your client but also get a well-earned break!

The practice is well established having been here for 12 years and with some of our colleagues having worked at the practice for 10 years. Our relaxed and social work environment really offers you a “love where you work” feeling.

If you are new to the area, Bitterne is located just off the M3 and within commutable distance to Southampton, Winchester, and Portsmouth. There are also great transport links and on-site parking is available.

The role:
The position is for a full-time or part time Vet, but we understand how important a good work-life balance is and want to actively promote this. There is no OOH, no Sundays and we don’t open on bank holidays.

Just to let you know, our weekday shifts are:
8:30am-5:00pm, 9:30am-6pm, 10:30am-7:00pm, Saturdays on a rotation 9am-12pm. We make sure we give back all overtime in lieu.

There will be some solo charge responsibilities on Saturdays, so someone who is confident and experienced with solo work would be beneficial

What we offer:
As you would expect from the market leader in animal veterinary care, we offer a supportive working environment together with career development opportunities, an excellent package, and great benefits:

  • Salary £45,000 - £65,000 FTE, commensurate with experience.
  • 4 weeks paid holiday a year
  • Generous CPD allowance up to Certificate level
  • Fully organised and funded Working Visa
  • All bank holidays off
  • RCVS fees fully funded
  • Optional Private health care
  • Pension and exclusive company discounts and rewards - including 20% off at Pets at Home, and the Vet Group

About you:
We’re looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon that’s used to the day-to-day procedures of a small animal practice. You will ideally be comfortable with the routine consultations and conditions, building a good relationship with clients and team, and as well happy with the routine surgeries.

We actively encourage an environment of independent thinking so you will have plenty of clinical freedom and be support to undertake any certificates or CPD that will help you support our patients better and achieve your Veterinary career goals.
